DEAL WITH THE PAST – BEFORE IT DEALS WITH YOU!
You are on a website that assists child abuse victims…..if this is you, please know there is a way out….you can become a survivor!! It’s not easy and it’s up to you to reach out for knowledge and understanding of why you are where you are and that there is a way to heal. We understand that survivors often reach for drugs and alcohol to cope with their pain and our ‘Mayumarri Solutions’ programme may be able to help you.
Think hard on these statements:
- If you wipe yourself out today you’ll feel really sick tomorrow – not to mention the money you’ve wasted!
- The feelings you have today will still be there tomorrow, no matter whether you drink/drug today or not.
- If you drink/drug today these feelings are also bound to happen: guilt, denial, shame, negative self-talk (“I wasn’t strong enough yet again!”)
- Self-sabotaging behaviours will continue to happen until you deal with your underlying issues and pain.
Then, think on these points:
- You ARE worthwhile!
- You CAN get through today!
- You ARE strong!
- You CAN be free of your addictions!
- You CAN take responsibility for your actions and no longer be a victim!
- You CAN plan for the future!
